Liam Gallagher is set to release his second solo album, Why Me? Why Not, later this month. To coincide with the release, the Britpop icon has unleashed a new documentary titled, As It Was, which dives into the meteoric rise and fall of his tumultuous career trajectory, especially in the years immediately following the implosion of Oasis in 2009.
The trailer for the documentary lacks none of the charismatic bravado we’ve come to know and love from the brazen frontman, but also reveals a newfound humility as the younger Gallagher brother is faced with rebuilding his career after years of public feuding with his sibling and bandmate, Noel.
From the film's official synopsis, “See how his fall from superstardom turned into the visionary launch of a solo career.” Watch the trailer below:
While Liam Gallagher’s public persona is often marked by unwavering confidence, this disarming portrait shows a different side of the 46-year-old rocker, who appears pensive and nervous as he prepares to unveil his new solo music to the world. “This is my last chance to do the thing I love,” he says.
The documentary offers an All Access Pass to one of the most contentious and captivating stories of modern rock history. It’s almost certain to elicit a response from the other side of the Gallagher family as this story continues to play out in real-time.
As It Was has already aired in the UK, hits theatres in the USA on Sept 13th and will be available for digital download on Sept 17th. We are yet to hear of an official release date in Australia, but we will keep you posted!
