Metallica has shared a video of themselves playing Master Of Puppets alongside the Stranger Things scene the song appears in.

The metal legends shared the clip on TikTok, taking up a duet challenge posted on the app by Netflix. Metallica responded with a full band performance, ripping the 1991 metal classic alongside Eddie Munson, all wearing the signature “Hellfire Club” t-shirts in tribute to Stranger Things character.

“Eddie, this is for you!” they captioned the clip. Check it out below – spoiler alert for anyone who hasn’t seen the finale episode!

Metallica has praised Stranger Things and its creators for having featured Master Of Puppets in the show, saying they were “stoked to see the final result” and “totally blown away…” by the scene it featured in.

“It’s an incredible honour to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”

Master of Puppets has followed Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill up the charts since being featured in the massively popular cult sci-fi show, with the 1986 and 1985 hits, respectively, enjoying a record-breaking surge in popularity. Master of Puppets is currently at number seven on Spotify’s Top 50 USA playlist, and Running Up That Hill climbing all the way to number one on the UK’s Official Singles Chart and breaking three Guinness World Records in the process (oldest female artist to reach Number One, longest time for a track to reach Number One, on the UK’s Official Singles Chart and the longest gap between Number Ones).

Metallica welcomes the new generation of listeners with open arms, quashing a social media post throwing shade at “all the fake ‘Stranger Things’ fans” with an unequivocal reminder that “EVERYONE is welcome in the Metallica Family.”

“Whether you’ve been a fan for 40 hours or 40 years, we all share a bond through music. All of you started at ground zero at one point in time.”
