If you’ve been looking to add some classic rock to your Christmas, then YouTuber Aaron Gage has you covered with a genius mashup of Black Sabbath's War Pigs and Christmas classic Deck the Halls.
Gage first teased the idea last year with a short preview of himself playing the opening bars to War Pigs while singing Deck the Halls, which he has spent the year developing into a full-length one-man-band performance, playing and singing all the parts, just in time for Christmas.
“You asked, and I finally delivered,” Gage wrote in the YouTube description. “Hope you all enjoy!” Watch him deliver the tune in a very festive outfit below!
‘War Pigs’ X ‘Deck the Halls’
Some mashups definitely work better than others, but Gage’s creation is certainly up there with the best! Set to the heavy War Pigs, the lyrics to Deck the Halls take on a whole new life. Lines like “See the blazing yule before us” sound utterly fierce in this context.
And it seems word of Gage’s genius mashup is spreading fast with one YouTuber commenting that, “I heard this on my local radio station today. It’s absolutely fantastic! Great work.”
War Pigs was originally released as the thunderous opening track on Black Sabbath’s seminal 1970 album Paranoid and is considered among the metal legends’ greatest works. Watch them tear through it live in 1970 below.
