Mattel has announced a brand new Tina Turner Barbie doll, celebrating the upcoming 40th anniversary of her mega-hit, What’s Love Got To Do With It.
“Barbie is proud to honour the unmatched career of the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n Roll’ with a @TinaTurner Barbie doll,” Mattel posted to Instagram.“ Collectors and music fans alike can celebrate the music icon with the new Signature #Barbie doll.”
What’s Love Got To Do With It was Turner’s first and only No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart when it was released in 1984, and earned her three Grammy Awards in 1985.
The Queen of Rock has been immortalized in the iconic outfit she wore for the song’s official music video, complete with a black mini dress, denim jacket, black heels and, most notably, her signature gravity-defying hairstyle.
“We used a lot of screen grabs to see the hair at all angles,” designer Bill Greening said in a statement. “Lots of teasing and hairspray was involved!”
