Neil Young has made his political standings clear in a new single, “Looking’ For A Leader” shared today via his social media channels. The track comes from Young's upcoming EP The Times, which will be available to pre-order on August 14. The track sees legendary singer, and recent American citizen, take aim at the US President in this fiery updated protest song, spurred on by Donald Trump’s continued use of Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” at his recent campaign rallies.

Young originally released “Lookin’ For A Leader” on 2006’s Living With War, aimed at the then current George W. Bush administration and their pursuit of war in the middle east. The updated 2020 version focuses on modern turmoils closer to home, and takes a more personal tone as the musician explains that Trump's ongoing use of his own music – against his very wishes – is indicative of ongoing misuse of his wider presidential powers. Young recently performed the track live as part of his ongoing Lockdown Sessions series, which he has contributed almost weekly updates to, via the Neil Young Archives website throughout the coronavirus pandemic, all filmed by his wife, Daryl Hannah at their Colorado home. You can watch, here.
