Founding Fleetwood Mac guitarist, Peter Green was known to be a very private person but in the years leading up to his death in 2020, at the age of 73, the legendary blues-rocker was working on an extensive book chronicling the details of his life.

Now, Peter Green - The Albatross Man is scheduled for release in October, with pre-orders available via Rufus Books, here. The massive illustrated book will also feature two previously unreleased versions of Fleetwood Mac classics.

One is a rendition of "Need Your Love So Bad" featuring a newly uncovered vocal take Green laid down on a tape recorder in his mother’s attic in the 60s, plus new layers contributed by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour.

The other is a new version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Man of the World” featuring Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett who recorded his parts at Abbey Road studios in January 2020 (see here).

"For the past four years Peter worked directly with Rufus Publications to produce a huge, illustrated visual book of his life and career," the book's publisher explained via statement. "Mark Smith at Rufus has been traveling down to Canvey Island on a regular basis to talk to Peter about his life, look through his personal archive and discuss his love for fishing, drawing and listening to a wide range of music on a daily basis. During this time a book of rare images, memorabilia, lyrics and notes from his time in Fleetwood Mac has been assembled with Peter having full control over the book's direction and details."

Peter Green - The Albatross Man will be released in three versions, including an ultra-limited edition signed by Green and a deluxe edition with an autograph from Hammett. Both editions will feature the new Fleetwood Mac songs on both vinyl and CD.

Both Gilmour and Hammett took part in Mick Fleetwood’s star-studded tribute concert to the legendary guitarist held at London’s Palladium on Feb 25, 2020. An expansive box set from the event, Mick Fleetwood & Friends Celebrate the Music of Peter Green and the Early Years of Fleetwood Mac will be available in multiple formats on April 30th, pre-order your copy below.
