Believe it or not, Brisbane's Regurgitator are turning 25! To mark the occasion, the Aussie rock icons have announced a massive run of dates across the country later this year with special guests, Shonen Knife and The Fauves

The 25th anniversary tour is billed as “a fully blown visually rehabilitated retrospective of a show straddling a holographic hyperbole of antiquated technology, trawling the analogue back through the digital”.

First forming back in the early ’90s, the 'Gurg tested the waters with a couple of EPs before releasing their wonderfully weird debut album, Tu-Plang in 1996. Despite their post-grunge, art-house leanings declaring a dedication to the underground, just one year later, they found themselves on the mainstream map when 1997s now-iconic Unit album crossed over to commercial radio. The mix of 80s synth-pop, alt-rock and hip-hop transcended genres, earning them triple platinum sales and 5 ARIA Awards, including best mainstream album and best alternative album. Fair to say, it dominated on all fronts.

"Polyester Girl"

Since then, the band estimate they have released 11 albums, seven EPs, 16 singles, five DVDs, 120 Tshirt designs, and played something like 905 gigs – soon to be 926, with the band announcing a run of 21 shows through October and November, taking in every state and territory in their silver jubilee celebrations.

And they won't be alone. Japanese pop-punk legends Shonen Knife and Melbourne indie-rock masters The Fauves (who have shared the bill with them many times before) will be joining them for what is set to be a match made in heaven for local rock fans!

Don’t miss your chance to catch three of the greatest rock bands to emerge from the vibrant, alt-rock loving 90s. It all kicks off this October, be sure to hit up Regurgitator’s website for more info.
