Very sad news overnight that Pantera founder and drummer Vinnie Paul has passed away at the young age of 54.

The brother of Pantera co-member Dimebag Darrell who was killed in 2004, and also known for his work with hard rock outfits Hellyeah and Damageplan, Vinnie Paul was a highly respected and regarded friend to many in the hard rock and metal communities. 

No details have been announced about the cause of death at time of writing, however, a statement from the band has confirmed it via their official Facebook page; "Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away. The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time."
