This week we are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Rod Stewart's global smash hit, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy", which topped the Aussie charts at #1 and is still a radio staple the world over.

From his Blondes Have More Fun album, the song was a pretty distinct departure from his previous works but proved successful, and absolutely cemented Rod's sex symbol status.

To mark this momentous occasion, we've decided to treat you to a gallery of Rod's most iconic fashion moments - he's worn a few hair-raising (pun intended) suits over the years - and his album covers and live shows became synonymous with leopard print and tartan.

Enjoy! We recommend you listen to this Rod Stewart Spotify playlist while you browse so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Warning: You may need to put your sunglasses on for some of the brighter numbers... We've focussed on the 70s and 80s, cos let's be honest, it's where the style levels peaked.

Not many men are brave enough to mix a chequered shirt with a pinstripe pant, let alone tuck it in nice and tight and add a white leather belt.

Crawling out of his Igloo to take the pop world by storm, Rod is pictured here in what looks like fox fur, but could just as easily be chinchilla. So snuggly!

The sunglasses are essential when the pink is this flouro. Adding a bright yellow collared shirt and matching sneakers for extra brightness. He really deserves some kind of bravery award for this one.

Here we go, now we're talking! Rod's affiliation with leopard print started back in the days of the Faces and we're pretty sure he still rocks this look today. The bare chest makes this jungle cat look primal.

Nothing says "I'm comfortable with my masculinity" quite like a pastel pink satin tracksuit. The wristband is just precious, and essential for wiping sweat from the brow. It's hot in here!

Couples in love wear matching purple.  Purple jacket, purple pants, purple scarf, purple shoes. Wonder what colour his underpants are?! Many of our 80s skiing champions stole this look for the slopes.

Stepping out in style! The all white contrast against the red Ferrari screams luxury. So fresh, so clean. The houndstooth jacket letting us know that he's proud to have Scottish roots and bold enough to rock a two-toned textile. The sensible ballet slippers are perfect for hitting the dancefloor after dark.

You'd be smiling too if you looked this good in red spandex and tartan. This look is just so rock'n'roll we can't handle it. Peak Rockstar levels here, Rod.

Can't decide between leopard print or stripes - go both! The pink lining on the jacket is a nice touch too. Rod was all about the pink in the 80s. The leopard print was also a staple at this point of his career.

This tiger stripe onesie looks comfortable and practical, doubling as pajamas. A good amount of stretch in the fabric allows Rod to reach out to his adoring fans.

Vertical and horizontal - Rod likes it both ways. We're talking about brown and yellow stripes of course! The height and depth of his hair also deserves an extra special shout out.

What is this fabric called again? Very popular in the mid-80s. And, would you call this yellow or mustard? Loving the pop of blue and the Gatsby shoes.

The truth is, we could go on and one. Rod is such a style King. Have you ever rocked a Rod Stewart look? If so, post photos on our Facebook page, here.
