Neil Young’s latest Fireside Sessions Livestream came with a twist, with the singer deciding to take the show outdoors for what he has dubbed a ‘Barnyard Edition.’ The 30-minute episode was again filmed and directed by Young’s wife, Daryl Hannah from their home in Colorado.
The singer dove deep into his catalogue to deliver a six-song setlist to an audience of chickens, horses and llamas. Opening up with “Tumbleweed” from 2014’s Storytone on the ukulele, Young then picked moved on to acoustic guitar for the remainder of the set which included a preview of “Homegrown” from his upcoming release, vintage classics “Harvest” and “Old Man,” “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” whilst surrounded by chickens, before ending on “War of Man” as the sun sets. Watch the full session via the Neil Young Archives website, here.
Young’s Fireside Sessions have proven to be an unpredictable source of joy through these recent times. The previous Fireside session, released on May 7, was packed with rarities and solo versions of his classic songs.
Last week, Neil Young announced that he will be releasing his long-lost Homegrown album, originally recorded in 1974, on June 19th. Pre-order now to receive an instant download of the previously unreleased album track, “Try”.
