Stevie Nicks is in the midst of her 24 Karat Gold Tour in Australia and last night the ILYOS crew were lucky enough to catch her in Sydney.

The night kicked off early with The Pretenders taking to the stage first. Chrissie Hynde, effortlessly cool, lead the band through some new material as well as their classic hits. A stripped-back version of "I'll Stand By You" showed off her powerful vocals, but in true Chrissie form, it was when she was rocking out with her guitar that we saw her inner-punk come out. The band delivered "Brass In Pocket", "Don't Get Me Wrong" and "Back On The Chain Gang" with force. An exceptional performance and the perfect way to warm the crowd up for Stevie - although the Pretenders could certainly hold their own as headliners.

The night's double bill drew a mixed crowd of young and old but one thing was clear - not one person was able to escape the magical spell cast by Stevie Nicks from the minute she walked out on stage. We were treated to some very special stories between songs where Stevie spoke of her early years as a solo artist and how she broke the news to other Fleetwood Mac members that she wanted a solo career, promising "I will never break up Fleetwood Mac".

Much to the fans excitement, a highlight in Stevie's set early on, song three in the set, was when Chrissie Hynde joined her on stage for "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" and took the role of Tom Petty's vocal parts shared with Stevie's long-time guitarist, Waddy Wachtel. The connection between the two icons was obvious as they were all smiles and Stevie made note of the fact that the tour went on for much longer than expected but they were all having a great time and getting along.

We all gained some beautiful insight into Stevie's writing process. Her poetry, which always comes before the music, for "Stand Back" was inspired by hearing an early version of Prince's "Little Red Corvette" and she spoke warmly of the bond she shared with him.

Including a couple of songs from various albums throughout her career including Bella Donna, Wild Heart, 24 Karat Gold and some Fleetwood Mac classics in "Rhiannon" and "Dreams", we all left the show feeling overwhelmed by how wonderful it was.
