Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang! Bang!) have channelled their powers into one singular superfan dubbed ‘Adam Scott Aukerman’ to discuss the music and impact of their favourite bands for their new U Talkin’… podcast. Previous episodes have seen them delve into the discography of U2 in U Talkin' U2 To Me?, and R.E.M. are the topic of R U Talkin’ R.E.M. Re: Me?
For their third instalment, the pair announced they would be taking a deep dive into the history of Red Hot Chili Peppers, but as they begin to tackle the topic both have to confess that they’d rather be talking about the Talking Heads. Sold by the instant catchiness of the title U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head, they make an impromptu change course to deliver a surprisingly insightful retrospective of the New York New Wavers history and a comprehensive track-by-track of their arty 1977 debut album, 77 (after some comically digressive small talk).
"Adam, I gotta say I'm happy we did this," Aukerman says at the end of the episode, with Adam replying "Me too...and I think we should see this one through." True to their word, they have since reconvened for a chat about Talking Heads’ second studio album, 1978’s More Songs About Buildings and Food.
