Porno For Pyros frontman, Perry Farrell invited fellow 90s rocker, Billy Corgan onstage to cover the 1971 Led Zeppelin classic, When The Levee Breaks, at Lollapollaza over the weekend.
The surprise guest appearance occurred nine songs into the Pyros’ set, who were performing in place of Farrell’s other band, Janes’ Addiction who are currently sidelined due to guitarist Dave Navarro’s ongoing battle with covid.
“I love you all, Chicago,” Farrell told the crowd. “We have a very dear friend, Billy Corgan, that we got together [with]. Reunited this time out. We want to do a proper Chicago song for you together, is that cool?”
The band then launched into an energized rendition of Zeppelin’s When the Levee Breaks, featuring Farrell on vocals and Corgan joined on guitar.

The Delta blues standard was originally written almost a century ago in 1929 and recorded by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie. Zeppelin transformed the song into an iconic classic rock hit when they released a version of When The Levee Breaks on their 1971 LP, Led Zeppelin IV.
