Red Hot Chili Peppers gave concertgoers an unparalleled trip back to the 90s over the weekend when they launched into Nirvana’s unofficial anthem of grunge, Smells Like Teen Spirit, performing at a benefit concert (Oct 29) for the Silverlake Academy of Music in LA, co-founded by Flea in 2001.
The funk legends closed the show hollowed track with Anthony Kiedis singing the verse and guitarist John Frusciante covering the iconic chorus. Watch below.

The Peppers’ 11-song set was dedicated to the classics with a cover of the Ramones’ I Remember You and some Californication hits, but nothing released prior to 1999. They will be touring for the remainder of 2022 in support of their back-to-back chart-topping albums released this year - Unlimited Love in April and Return of the Dream Canteen last month.
The band will head to Australia for a massive stadium tour in 2023 The run of dates will kick off in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday 29th of January, before heading to Sydney’s Accor Stadium on February 2nd, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on February 7th, and will conclude at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
