Mystify: Michael Hutchence.

The life and legacy of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, is the focus of a brand new documentary called, Mystify. The film, which debuted to critical acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this year, uses never-before-seen footage to examine the personal story of the Australian music icon and the events leading up to his untimely death in November 1997.

Directed by Richard Lowenstein, Mystify features testimonies from some of the singer’s closest friends and family, including former girlfriends Kylie Minogue and Helena Christensen; evangelizing Michael’s desire for artistic authenticity in the vortex of fame. “He was the complete package. Everyone wanted a piece of him.”

Michael Hutchence lived his life in the public eye, but only a handful of people knew the man behind the rockstar persona. Richard Lowenstein was one of them. Lowenstein’s personal history with Hutchence and unprecedented access to home video footage has paved the way for an intimate portrayal that is being praised as the definitive chronicle of the singer’s life.

In addition to former girlfriend and fellow Australian superstar Kylie Minogue, the documentary features off-camera testimonials from U2 singer Bono, the surviving INXS members, Hutchence’s siblings Rhett and Tina, stepmother Susie and producer Nick Launay.

Mystify: Michael Hutchence a must-see for INXS fans! Preview screenings have been scheduled at cinemas in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth ahead of the official July 4th release date.
