The enduring friendship of music legends Carole King and James Taylor, both creative and personal, is the subject of an upcoming concert documentary, Carole King & James Taylor: Just Call Out My Name.

The film will feature a career-spanning selection of works from the music icons, showcasing hits from their respective back catalogues, alongside interviews exploring their storied careers.

The concert footage focuses on setlist highlights from King and Taylor’s joint ‘Troubadour’ reunion tour in 2010, with show-stopping performances of You’ve Got A Friend, It’s Too Late, and Sweet Baby James, among others.

In the trailer, which you can watch below, performances of So Far Away and Fire and Rain from King and Taylor feature; plus a retrospective of previously unseen footage from live shows dating from 1970 and 2007. Watch below.

Directed by Frank Marshall and commissioned by CNN Films and HBO Max, the documentary is strengthened by interview footage of the pair in July 2021 at the Southern New Hampshire University Arena in Manchester; reflecting on the story behind King and Taylor’s enduring friendship, and diving into the stories behind songs, like the film’s namesake, You’ve Got a Friend.

Carole King & James Taylor: Just Call Out My Name will premiere on January 2 in the US  via CNN and will be available on-demand from January 3. There is currently no information for Aussie audiences – we will keep you posted!
