You're The Voice: Canadian & Norwegian Style

"You’re The Voice" would seem to be so iconic in Australia that it’s untouchable, but a few international types have given it a crack. Canadian band Heart – who you’ll remember from great tracks like "Barracuda" and "Magic Man" in the mid-late ‘70s – had a minor hit with it in the US, UK and Canada in 1991.

Then most recently, Norwegian metal dude Jorn had a crack at it last year on his covers album called Heavy Rock Radio.

If you look at the video, Heart took the bold move of making an anti-war statement out of it – this the time of the first Gulf War – whilst also referencing Tiananmen Square and other flash points. Jorn on the other hand perhaps thinks it’s all about him? We’re not sure how he could keep a straight face pulling his moves on an empty stage in an empty theatre, but there’s no doubting he’s a passionate dude. Check these out...
