Best Of Billy Corgan

Best Of Billy Corgan

Billy Corgan is best known for fronting legends the Smashing Pumpkins. Possessing one of the most recognisable vocal tones of the 90s and writing richly textured rock songs with impeccable production, it’s widely known that he was never happy about being lumped in the ‘Grunge’ basket.

Last week he released a new solo record, Ogilala, under his full birth name, William Patrick Corgan.

The album, produced by Rick Rubin and recorded at Shangri La studios in Malibu, presents Corgan’s distinctive vocals and melodies across a sparse, but rich palette of acoustic guitar, piano, and strings.

Check out the first track released from the album, performed live on Jimmy Fallon…

Let’s spend some time now looking at some of his earlier work that we all know and love, especially from the Smashing Pumpkins 90s repertoire.

Starting with Smashing Pumpkins first album Gish, released in 1991.

It would be insane not to include sseveral tracks off Siamese Dream from 1993, which was an absolute masterpiece of an album from beginning to end.

And of course, from the beautifully complex Mellon Chollie and the Infinite Sadness in 1995 which is the bands biggest selling record at 4 x Platinum in Australia and certified Diamond in the US.

Check out the new record and let us know on our Facebook page how it rates!
