We all know and love Billie Joe Armstrong from 90s pop-punk pioneers, Green Day.
It kinda makes sense that his two sons Joey and Jakob are rockers too, it's in their blood and they'd have spent their entire lives surrounded by the music biz. Both are in a new band called SWMRS, pronounced 'swimmers' with a debut album released in 2010, produced by non-other than - you guessed it... Dad!
Lead singer Cole Becker formed the band with Joey Armstrong citing that they were inspired after watching the film School Of Rock when they were kids.
Check out the clip for their most recent song "April In Houston" where you'll hear subtle similarities to the radio-rock Green Day sound. We also reckon frontman Cole stole some moves from our very own Peter Garrett. He's kinda weird but in a good way!
We're always pleased to see young bands keeping the rock flame burning amidst the absolute onslaught of less desirable genres that dominate streaming.
So, thanks Billie Joe for raising a couple of talented musicians, we're grateful for your legacy.
