An absolutely star-studded cast of over 40 musicians, actors, comedians, directors and artists have come together to honour late Beatles icon, George Harrison with the first-ever official music video for his 1970 hit, My Sweet Lord

In the Lance Bangs-directed video, Saturday Night Live stars Fred Armisen and Vanessa Bayer play ever-curious “metaphysical special agents who are tasked by the head of a clandestine agency, played by (Star Wars legend) Mark Hamill, to search for that which can’t be seen.”

Their “search” leads them on a journey jam-packed with celebrity cameos, from Harrison’s friends and former bandmate Ringo Starr, EaglesJoe Walsh and Weird Al Yankovic, to actors Darren Criss, Jon HammRosanna Arquette and many many more.

The clip also features Harrison’s wife Olivia Harrison and son Dhani Harrison, who appear alongside actors Aimee Mullins and actor Rupert Friend, as well as archival footage of George Harrison projected in the background. Watch below.

“Making this was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life,” Bangs – whose directorial credits include music videos for Nirvana, Green Day and R.E.M. – said in a press release. “The approach was to represent the song visually while these agents and inspectors kept missing the metaphysical wonder around them. Images are choreographed to the sounds of vocal melodies, guitar strums, drum patterns, chord changes.

“George threaded a sense of humour through all of his videos, so we kept that spirit and filled the cast with friends and admirers of his music, many coming from the current comedy landscape.”

Bangs added: “I tracked down vintage prime lenses from some of the films George’s HandMade Films had produced, and I hope that viewers can feel a sense of wonder and searching while they watch it, and that the song continues to add to all of our lives.”

George Harrison passed away 20 years ago, in November 2001 at the age of 58.

Paul McCartney shared a heartfelt tribute to his former bandmate on social media, saying: “Hard to believe that we lost George 20 years ago. I miss my friend so much. Love Paul.”
