Have you ever wondered what would happen if you combined Alice In Chains with Alanis Morissette? Me neither, but Chris Harvey, frontman of prog rockers I Was Awake, did and it's game-changing.

"You Would Know - Alanis in Chains" is a combination of Alice in Chains' "Would?" from their 1992 album Dirt and Morisette's "You Oughta Know" from 1995 smash hit, Jagged Little Pill. Alice in Chains' brooding rhythm section, paired with Morissette’s scathing lyrics turn the bratty, grungey tantrum-anthem into something that belongs on a soundtrack to nightmares. Listen below.

Morissette’s original packed so much attitude that it’s almost impossible to believe it could be ramped up further, but the dark twist and minor instrumentation give it a menacing edge that sends angst levels off the charts.

Earlier this year, YouTuber William Maranci created a similarly anarchic mash-up of the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” and Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls On Parade”. Check it out here.
