A posthumous interview with late Motörhead frontman, Lemmy Kilmister has been unearthed on AC/DC’s Beyond The Thunder podcast. The interview, recorded back in 2015, appears as the show’s new season opener and sees the legend paying tribute to AC/DC, describing the band as musically kindred spirits.“AC/DC are a rock and roll band; they’re like us,” he says. “We don’t play metal. AC/DC don’t play metal.”
Lemmy recounts his memories of the Aussie rock titans, recalling the first time he saw them live at a British pub and instinctively knew they were destined for greatness, saying, “They were over from Australia for a tour and Bon Scott did the running round the boozer with Angus Young on his shoulders. It was obvious they were going to be huge.”
As well as his love of AC/DC, it’s well and truly candid chat with the legendary Motörhead singer, packed with some surprisingly poignant life advice! Listen below.
It was recently confirmed that a new biopic about the late, great Lemmy is set to go into production early next year with director Greg Olliver – who worked on the 2010 documentary of the same name – at the helm.
“Everything you’ve heard about Lemmy is probably true… not because he was embracing rock’n’roll clichés, but because he was creating them,” Olliver said in a statement. “Marlboro Reds and Jack Daniel’s for breakfast, speed for dinner – all true.”
“But behind that steely-eyed faade of rock’n’roll was also a compelling, complicated and lion-hearted man who stayed the course and never gave up playing the music that made him happy.”
