On a scale of 1 to 10, Iron Maiden's heavy metal purity sits somewhere around 100. Their stomping rhythms and lightning-fast fretwork propel Bruce Dickinson's operatic pipes, with a heroic level of power.

For all the Maiden fans out there, here are some awesome live moments from the lords of metal heavy metal.

Iron Maiden | “The Number Of The Beast” [The Beast on the Road, 1982]

The Number Of The Beast, released in March of 1982, wasn’t just a record that redefined since. Their supporting The Beast on the Road tour is one of Iron Maiden's longest tours to date (only surpassed in length by the World Slavery Tour), comprising 184 dates in 18 countries over ten months. At about 1:18 you’ll be treated to one of the best live screams in all of heavy metal.

Iron Maiden | “The Trooper” [World Slavery Tour, 1985]

Here are Maiden making light work of the killer twin guitar solos in “The Trooper,” from 1983’s Piece Of Mind on their World Slavery Tour – Maiden’s biggest to date, saw them perform 188 shows between August 1984 and July 1985.

Iron Maiden | “Run To The Hills” [World Slavery Tour, 1985]

Another magic moment from the World Slavery Tour. Tickets cost $12.50 – can you imagine!

Iron Maiden | “Hallowed Be Thy Name” [Live in Birmingham, 1988]

Welcome to church. Maiden’s 1988 tour, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son tour included a show at Donington Park’s Monsters of Rock festival in the UK where the band performed to an audience of 107,000!

Iron Maiden | “2 Minutes To Midnight” [Flight 666, 2008]

At Melbourne’s very own Rod Laver Arena.

Iron Maiden | “Iron Maiden” [Live at Long Beach Arena]

Every band needs a theme song. “Iron Maiden” from the Iron Maiden album by Iron Maiden is up there with the best.

Last month, Iron Maiden announced their first new album in six years, a double LP titled Senjutsu will be out on September 3rd and is available to pre-order now. The metal legends previewed the collection with a brilliant animated clip for lead single, The Writing on the Wall. Watch below.
