Last week (June 1), we reported a viral resurgence of interest in Kate Bush's 1985 pop smash, Running Up That Hill, after the track featured in a scene from the Netflix cult-horror series, Stranger Things. Now, 37 years on from the song’s original release, the Official UK Charts Company has reported that the song is sitting currently sitting at number 2 and to challenge Harry Styles for the top position next week!
In response to her Hound of Love hit racing back up the charts, decades on from its original release, the singer has made a rare public statement via her official website, saying, "You might’ve heard that the first part of the fantastic, gripping new series of Stranger Things has recently been released on Netflix. It features the song, Running Up That Hill which is being given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show - I love it too!”
"Because of this, Running Up That Hill is charting around the world and has entered the UK chart at No. 8. It’s all really exciting! Thanks very much to everyone who has supported the song."
Bush concluded with, "I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July."
