It was reported over the weekend that two elderly patients of an aged care assisted living facility in Germany went missing.

Turns out, they escaped so they could go to Wacken Open Air - the worlds largest heavy metal festival.

We think this is just brilliant.

The two men were found on the grounds at 3 am and were resistant in being removed from the festival, however, were transported back to their nursing home escorted by police. Awww, let them rock, we say!

Wacken Open Air is an annual metal event that runs over four days in Wacken, Germany. It features a line-up of hundreds of heavy metal bands and is deemed a must-do for any metal head. Since it's inception in 1990, bands including Judas Preist, Nazareth, Dimmu Borgir, Motorhead, Saxon, Machine Head and Twisted Sister have played its main stage.

It seems the festival has always attracted metal fans of all ages. The photo above is from 2013. Gotta love those crazy Germans.
