Today, we remember Prince with a just released, legendary original studio recording of “Nothing Compares 2 U.” This previously unreleased version of the song was recorded in 1984, six years before the classic reimagining by Sinead O'Connor, and before Prince even began to perform the song live. Aside from the backing vocals, Prince originally composed, arranged and performed the song in its entirety. The original track also features saxophone work by Eric Leeds.
The Prince Estate has also launched a new site for fans to showcase what Prince means to them. When fans visit Prince2Me (www.Prince2Me.com), they will be able to craft their own message using Prince vocabulary, images, and videos, all provided by the Prince Estate. Once fans create their message they will be able to share on social media, and get the conversation started on who Prince is to them. Fans on Twitter can use #Prince2Me or #NothingCompares2U to activate an exclusive Prince Love Symbol Twitter emoji.
