Alanis Morissette appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week to talk about the new 'Jagged Little Pill' Broadway show and her 1995 mega-selling third album of the same name. To top off the evening, her and Fallon headed out to New York City’s 50th Street subway station below Rockefeller Center to busk in disguise, bringing some angsty-Christmas cheer to the crowd of commuters.

Morissette was almost unrecognisable in a giant cowboy hat, shades, blonde wig and a big, furry coat alongside a bearded Fallon who was wearing a beanie cap and a tiny drum around his neck. The pair began by singing the classic Christmas carol “The Little Drummer Boy,” which drew some passers-by to their makeshift stage before Fallon hit them with the big reveal: “Thank you very much, everybody. Happy, happy, happy holidays, everybody,” Fallon said, before stripping away his disguise and introducing himself. “My name is, uh, Jimmy Fallon. And this is Alanis Morissette!”

Morissette then performed an unplugged version of her 1995 smash hit, “You Oughta Know” with a band that included a guitarist and bucket drummer. Meanwhile, Fallon provided tambourine accompaniment, backup vocals and hyped up the crowd who, along with Morissette, were all smiles as they belted the raw and emotive lyrics in unison.

Earlier this week, Alanis almost broke the internet with the announcement of her 25th anniversary tour for Jagged Little Pill that will see her hit the road with fellow 90s luminaries Liz Phair and Garbage in July next year. So far only US dates have been announced, but we're holding out for a Chrismas miracle!
