Photographer, Richard Davis has shared previously unseen pictures from one of Nirvana’s earliest UK gigs which, until now, he thought had been lost forever.

Davis was in the audience to review  the band’s second performance on British soil at Manchester Polytechnic Students Union on Tuesday, October 24, 1989, for photography magazine Pulp.

Since sharing the images online (see below), Davis’ images were featured in the Manchester Evening News.

Speaking to the publication, he said that he was delighted to stumble upon the long lost shots during lockdown and shared some memories from the night, saying, "The thing I remember most about the night was there was lots of stage diving. Punk had spitting, but Grunge's big thing seemed to be stage diving.”

“For years I was convinced that someone had nicked the negatives,” he explained.

“But about two months ago I was going through my kids stuff and found it among the old primary school photos. I looked at it and thought ‘Oh my God, I thought I’d lost them’.”
