Dave Grohl is on the road promoting his first-ever memoir, The Storyteller – which arrived this weekwith a series of speaking events, bringing the pages to life with priceless rock anecdotes and one-man renditions of his greatest hits from both Foo Fighters and Nirvana.

Grohl explained what inspired him to write the book in a YouTube video featuring his personal old home videos. “I’ve never really been one to collect stuff, but I do collect moments,” he says. “My life flashes before my eyes every single day and in writing this book I’ve tried to capture those moments as best I can.”

During the live show, the rock legend reflected on the highs and lows of his storied career, from his enviable affinity with rock royalty like David Bowie and Iggy Pop, to the devastating loss of his singer and friend Kurt Cobain.

Grohl paid homage to his bands past in present with some sold renditions of their most beloved hits, including Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit and the Foo’s My Hero and Everlong. Watch below.

Here’s to hoping Dave gets the chance to tour this show in Australia soon!

The monolithic grunge anthem, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" first appeared on Nirvana's landmark album, Nevermind which turned 30 last month. Watch the band tear through a blistering live rendition in 1991 below.
