11-year-old viral drummer, Nandi Bushell has finally performed lived with the Foo Fighters in front of a massive crowd at the Forum in Los Angeles last Thursday night (Aug 26) – and it’s absolutely magic.
The young musical prodigy well and truly earned the moment. After posting a steady stream of impressive drum covers to YouTube over the past year, including the Foo’s Everlong, she turned herself into an internet sensation; attracting praise not only from fans, but also from the high-profile musicians whose songs she aced, sharing her videos and gifting her instruments along the way.
With sheer tenacity, the then 10-year-old stepped it up again when she publicly challenged Grohl to a lockdown “drum-off” that he simply couldn’t refuse. During the bands’ final song, Grohl gave the audience a brief history to set the scene, telling the massive crowd: “One day I pick up my phone and my friends text me and say ‘Have you seen this shit?’ And I pick up my phone and see that somebody has challenged me to a drum-off… I tried to brush it off but all my friends started telling me, ‘No dude. You’ve got to step up: this is a drum-off!’ So I responded and put out a little thing. And then she comes back. And she whips my fucking ass in front of the entire planet.”
Watch below as the pint-sized-powerhouse delivers a truly inspired performance of Everlong in front of an arena of Foo's fans chanting her name. It's just the best.

“It Happened!!! It was EPIC!!! Thank you so much @Foo Fighters Thank you to everyone who made it possible for me to jam with Mr. Grohl - Its my Daddy who filmed the video and is screaming a lot.”
Understandably – imagine how proud he must be!
Last year, Bushell more than impressed Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello with her cover of the Rage’s Guerrilla Radio that he gifted her a signature Fender Soul Power Stratocaster guitar, saying: “I’d like you to have this guitar as a gift from me to you because you rock so great, and to see someone rocking so great who is so young, it really gives me hope for the future.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
