Alt-rock luminaries, Pearl Jam have delivered a moving tribute to late Foo Fighters’ drummer, Taylor Hawkins over the weekend (May 7th), during their concert at the Forum in L.A.

Hawkins’ died in South America on March 25th while on tour with the Foo Fighters, aged 50. His passing sent shockwaves through the music community around the globe.

In honour of the beloved drummer, Pearl Jam performed a cover of Foo Fighters’ 2005 song Cold Day In The Sun in which Hawkins featured on lead vocals. Staying true to form, Pearl Jam performed the track with their own drummer Matt Cameron stepping up on lead vocals. Watch below.

“It’s never easy when you lose someone,” frontman Eddie Vedder said, as he was introducing the cover. “As you get older, you’ll notice it starts happening more and more. It’s just where you are on the timeline and where your friends are on the timeline.

“But sometimes, like this, it’s so unexpected. But also makes it harder because he was someone who truly, truly loved living life on this planet. So I guess the one thing we can be consoled by is the fact that he never wasted a moment, and he did live his life to the fullest. We just want more of it.”

We couldn’t agree more!
