Sammy Hagar & the Circle have been remarkably diligent during quarantine, contributing a new song every week to their Lockdown Sessions series, which is now nine videos strong. Over the past couple of months, the group have mainly tackled covers like the Who’s "Won’t Get Fooled Again" and Little Richard’s "Keep-a-Knockin'" but this week’s instalment is one of Hagar’s own, 1991 Van Halen classic "Right Now" – which was one of the band’s biggest hits when Hagar was fronting the band.  

“When I wrote this song with Eddie Van Halen over 30 years ago I had no idea it would be so relevant today,” Hagar wrote in the video’s description on YouTube. Watch below.

"Right Now," along with many popular cuts from Van Halen’s Hagar era, was dropped from the band’s live repertoire when David Lee Roth returned to the fold in 2007. However, Hagar has given those tracks a new place to shine, performing them on tours with his band, the Circle, which also features former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson.

In a 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, Hagar put talked about the possibility of a Van Halen reunion at some point in the future. “I know that Eddie and I are not done,” he said. “If enough water goes under the bridge before we die, it’ll happen. It has to. God is going to slap us both around if he has to.”
