Gorillaz have taken to social media recently to let fans know they have a brand new single, Cracker Island, imminently ready to drop.
The animated electro band – led by Blur frontman, Damon Albarn – shared a video featuring each of the cartoon band members – 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel. The short clip is captioned, “Cracker Island is coming…” with the hashtag #thelastcult.
Adding to the mystery, Gorillaz later posted two more images, one of 2D (Albarn) alone and one of him and the whole group together – captioned with, “2D is the chosen one…” See below.
There is no release date set for Cracker Island as yet, but you can pre-save the single, here.
Gorillaz’s last studio album, Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez arrived in 2020. Recorded mostly in lockdown, it perfectly summed up some very strange times indeed! The album also featured a STACK of special guests, including The Cure's Robert Smith who performed lead vocals on the spacey title track, Strange Timez. Watch the music video below.
