Legendary record producer, Rick Rubin has announced an upcoming book titled The Creative Act: A Way Of Being, which is set to hit the shelves in 2023.
As yet, details regarding the content are scarce, Rubin revealed in a statement (via Far Out Magazine) that the work will reflect on his extraordinary experiences creating some of the most successful albums of all time.
“I set out to write a book about what to do to make a great work of art,” Rubin said. “Instead, it revealed itself to be a book on how to be.”
According to UK publisher Canongate, the book will be based on the “principles” of creative thinkers required to realise their dreams – something Rubin is undoubtedly an expert of considering that he has worked with everyone from Johnny Cash and Black Sabbath, to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ice-T.

Rubin also worked with the Beastie Boys on their seminal 1986 smash (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!); Aerosmith and Run-DMC’s legendary collaboration on ‘Walk This Way’ – another 1986 hit that introduced rock-rap to the mainstream.
Last year, Rubin appeared in a series with former Beatle Paul McCartney, titled McCartney 3,2,1, reflecting on the rigours of recording some of the ban’s most beloved hits. Watch the trailer below.
