Earlier this year, it was announced that goth rock icons, The Cure would be returning to Australia to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their best-selling album, Disintegration, with a series of special gigs at the Sydney Opera House during Vivid LIVE 2019. Today, the band have announced plans to live stream their fifth and final performance for all to enjoy!
Tickets to the highly-anticipated event were originally released back in February through a ballot system and sold out in no time. However, now an unexpected second chance draw has come into play as The Cure have added a fifth and final show to the dates.
Taking place on Thursday, May 30th, tickets to this final show will only be available to people who entered the ballot for the previous dates. Successful candidates will be advised tomorrow morning from 9 am and will want to act fast, they’re bound to disappear quick.
Never fear though, the good news just keeps coming! If you weren’t in the ballot, missed out on tickets, don’t live in Sydney, or even Australia you don’t have to miss out. The Cure’s fifth and final Vivid LIVE performance of Disintegration in its entirety will be live-streamed around the world.

The Cure’s 1989 LP Disintegration is home to a number of hit singles, including “Lovesong,” “Lullaby,” “Fascination Street” and “Pictures of You.” In a press release for the event, Robert Smith said:
“We look forward to celebrating the anniversary of this special album with you all... ...and remember: this album was mixed to be played loud… so turn it up!” [via Rolling Stone]
Last month, the Cure were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with this touching speech by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor:
“I remember distinctly saying to myself, among other things, how can I even take this awards ceremony seriously if they’ll open their doors to X, Y and Z and not acknowledge the Cure?” he said. “Not so long ago I get a phone call I wasn’t expecting, and, well, here we are. Let’s just say I’ve never been as happy to eat my words as I was tonight.”
