Rolling Stone’s ongoing In My Room series has been one of the few upsides of this year, bringing some joy and solidarity to these uncertain times, and a priceless sneak peek into the homes of some of music’s biggest stars.

The latest instalment of the series features Boy George – accompanied by guitarist Kevan Frost – wearing a bright red hat and a blazer as he delivers an upbeat, glammed-out rendition of his own “Frantic,” followed by a heartfelt acoustic version of his song “Isolation,” and a cover of Mary Gauthier’s “Mercy Now.” Watch below.

Boy George wrote and released “Isolation” earlier this year before the coronavirus pandemic forced everyone into isolation, but it couldn’t better sum up the story that has unfolded since. The singer explained in a tweet, “My friend Sacha Gervaise told me his business partner owned a satellite. This got me thinking about isolation and perhaps freedom. So many metaphors, so little time. Keep safe people and let’s get this moment under control.”

Boy George’s In My Room instalment follows a string of intimate, homestyle performances by Sting, Joan Jett, Brian Wilson and many others. Watch more via Rolling Stone’s Instagram page, here.
