On Tuesday’s (May 19) episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Blur frontman, Damon Albarn performed his first-ever official duet with the Gorillaz 2-D when they ‘teamed up’ to deliver a socially distanced, yet heartfelt rendition of "Aries" – a recent release from the Gorillaz Song Machine series.

Albarn and the Gorillaz’ 2-D are never far from each other when it comes to performing live, as they are indeed the same person, but this is the first time they have actually appeared together. Watch below, paying particular attention to the guy wearing only a towel and horse head mask lounging on the couch doing some yoga and pulling some impressive dance moves in the background of 2-D’s Livestream.

Gorillaz released “Aries” in April as part of their ongoing Song Machine series. The song features the unmistakeably bouncing bass playing of New Order’s Peter Hook on the studio version of the track. Check it out here.

It’s safe to say the Gorillaz' Song Machine series has been keeping them busy throughout the global pandemic. Along with “Aries,” the series has delivered “Momentary Bliss” with Slowthai and Slaves, “Deslole” with Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara and “How Far?” featuring late Afrobeat legend Tony Allen, which the band released in tribute to Allen days after his death.
