Foo Fighter’s frontman and all-around legend, Dave Grohl has teamed up with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin once again for the second instalment of their 'Hanukkah Sessions', in which they cover a series of Jewish musicians over the eight days of Hanukkah.
Bringing festive spirit in spades, Grohl and Kurstin have unleashed a hardcore cover of Lisa Loeb's 1994, Reality Bites soundtrack highlight, Stay. Safe to say – NO ONE saw this one coming!
With full commitment, Grohl frocks up in a classic 90s floral print and quirky librarian glasses before Kurstin comes crashing in with his tortured take on the chorus. The extreme System of a Down style dynamics build into an anthemic, and surprisingly euphoric, finale… honestly, it has to be seen to be believed. Enjoy below!
Kurstin x Grohl: The Hanukkah Sessions 2021: Night One
Last year, the duo delivered thrilling covers of covered The Velvet Underground’s Rock and Roll, The Knacks’ Frustrated, Elastica’s Connection, Bob Dylan’s Rainy Day Women, Peaches’ Fuck the Pain Away, Beastie Boys’ Sabotage and more.
If this thrilling reimagining of a 90s dream-pop classic is anything to go by, we can’t wait to what this year’s Hanukkah Sessions has in store!
