Everyone’s favourite cover-kings, Weezer have featured on a new episode of The Simpsons that aired over the weekend, putting their signature angst-driven spin on the show’s classic Danny Elfman-helmed theme song in the process. Watch below.

Weezer Plays The Simpsons Theme Song [Season 31]

In the episode, Weezer starred – very appropriately – as a cover band called Sailor’s Delight, performing on a cruise ship as Homer and Marge holiday on the high seas. The band performed tracks from their 2019 self-titled record and 2017’s Pacific Daydream as well as premiering a brand new song “Blue Dream” from their forthcoming LP, Van Weezer

Just last week, Weezer gifted us with a distortion-heavy, power-pop anthem of hope and admiration for essential workers, in the form of a heart-touching, fan-assisted video for new song “Hero” – also from their upcoming album Van Weezer. Check it out here.

The album was scheduled to arrive this month, but the release has been postponed in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. “We don’t want to give another release date until we’re absolutely sure of it, we’ll just say ‘stay tuned for more info,” the band said in a statement. “In the meantime, we’re working hard on getting you all the new Weezer you can handle including music and more surprises getting announced later this week.”

Luck for us – it would seem the band are hard at work staying to true to their promise!
