Gorillaz have been sporadically releasing singles as Episodes in their Song Machine series for most of this year, and the latest instalment, Episode 7: “The Pink Phantom” released yesterday (October 1st) features none other than extravagant extraordinaire, Sir Elton John!

The songs from each Episode have been compiled into an album titled, Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez which is set to arrive on October 23rd and features a stack of other legendary guests including the Cure’s Robert Smith on “Strange Timez” and Joy Division’s Peter Hook on “Aries”.
As with the previous Episodes, “The Pink Phantom” [feat. Elton John & 6LACK] arrived with a Jamie Hewlett animated music video for the piano-led tune, more on the ballad side of the previous releases. Check out the colourful cartoon Elton, below.

Elton John said of the collaboration: “Damon reached out and asked me to do something and the way the song has turned out is just great. I was in the studio in London and he was at the other end in Devon, but even remotely it was such an engaging and creative process.”
