Rock legend Dave Grohl has appeared on BBC kids series CBeebies for a super wholesome reading of fellow drummer Ringo Starr’s children’s book Octopus’s Garden, inspired by the 1969 Beatles hit of the same name.

“After a busy day of rocking out, I like to relax by telling stories about places I’d like to go,” Grohl says, introducing the 2014 bedtime story with some personal insight. “Sometimes I imagine being up in space, zooming through the stars, or travelling through time with enormous dinosaurs. Sometimes, I like to be under the sea.”

Adding, “I love this story because it was written by someone who plays the drums, just like me!”

The Foo’s frontman then recites the story in the soft-spoken tone of an experienced dad, before signing off with, “Why don’t we all lay our head on the seabed and dream of underwater adventures.”  Watch below.

Ahead of the reading, Grohl told BBC, “As a proud father of three, I’ve always enjoyed reading stories to my children. It was a pleasure to read these stories for CBeebies.”

Grohl joins a growing list of legendary celebrities contributing to the series, including Dolly Parton and Elton John

Currently, the singer is on the road promoting his first-ever memoir, The Storyteller in a series of speaking events, bringing the pages to life with priceless rock anecdotes and one-man renditions of his greatest hits from both Foo Fighters and Nirvana. See here.
